Love is....

Today I had the opportunity to listen more carefully to Nena’s song „Liebe ist…” („Love is...“) which inspired me to write the following text.

Her lyrics touched me deeply since they speak from her heart and enable us to see the intricacies which preoccupy our hearts from time to time.
Love has been present in my life for a long time, and I’m thankful for that from the bottom of my heart. With Dado, not only have I experienced the family love, but I’ve also got the opportunity to find out what unconditional love and friendship in a relationship truly mean. Almost every evening while we’re driving from our dance school to our home there comes a moment when we look at each other and feel enormous gratitude because we have each other, our families and our friends and because we lead this kind of life that we do.

Maybe this is the reason why it is so hard for me to understand other people’s relationship issues. Mostly I have to think of the times, when I had similar experiences to be able to understand them better. In the last couple of weeks I had the opportunity of experiencing a couple of them, which had a really deep impact on me and made me think a bit.

I think that we often make it difficult to ourselves to simply love because we associate love with specific expectations and wishes. We connect being in love with evolutionary chemical reactions in our bodies, which is why we’re not sure whether to believe in our feelings or not. This is why our head and our heart fight against each other and try to convince each other into what’s right. I think that it is often not the question of love, moreover it’s the question of serenity – serenity which enables you to enjoy something without thinking immediately on the future or on the consequences which arise from the matter.

I think that we can observe a similar course of action in dance. The more you enjoy the moment and the more you separate from your expectations, wishes and experiences, the more intense you feel the love towards dance, music or your partner. It is like that in reality – it can happen that I fall in love with a song and in that case this moment is especially beautiful. It has nothing to do with the love towards your partner, it has more to do with the love towards the moment.

A very good friend of mine mentioned a great expression today: „being in love with a song“. I think that you can find love in any moment and that being in love turns the world into the most beautiful place because it sets emotions free.  It’s a chance that life offers to you in order to enjoy it even more.

The lyrics say it all…

Love does not demand,
Love does not fight,
Love will not be,
Love is.
Love does not search,
Love does not ask,
Love is, the way you are.

You and I are like kids
Who love each other.
Who don’t lie and don’t ask anything.
There’s two of us and we’re one,
We can see everything clearly.

And when one of us leaves,
Despite that we’re always here.
(Nena)

In that sense I wish us all the clarity that we search, the courage that we need, the love that we give and the frankness which will enable us to accept everything in each respective moment.
